Echo helps you connect with people who are physically nearby (same room/event) using device features like Bluetooth/Nearby Connections and (optionally) approximate location. This policy explains what data Echo collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have.
If you have questions, contact: cyph3rzw@gmail.com
1) Information we collect
A. Information you provide
- Profile details (optional): display name, handle, bio, and profile photo if you choose to add them.
- Messages you send: content of chats you create in Echo.
- Support communications: messages you send to us (e.g., email).
B. Information collected from your device
- Proximity / Nearby device signals: Echo uses Bluetooth/Nearby connections to detect and connect with devices in your “bubble.” This may include temporary device identifiers needed to establish a connection.
- Location (optional): Echo may use approximate location to help form or validate the bubble. We do not require precise GPS coordinates unless you explicitly enable features that need it.
- Diagnostics: basic app diagnostics (crash logs, performance) to keep the app reliable.
C. Permissions
Echo may request permissions such as Nearby Devices/Bluetooth and Location. You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings; some features may not work without them.
2) How we use information
- Provide the service: create and maintain your proximity “bubble,” show nearby users, and enable chat.
- Safety and integrity: prevent abuse, spam, or misuse of proximity features.
- Improve Echo: fix bugs, optimize performance, and enhance features.
- Support: respond to your questions and requests.
3) How we share information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited information only in these cases:
- With nearby users (you control this): your display name/handle/photo and messages you send are visible to the people you interact with.
- Service providers: hosting/analytics or crash-reporting providers that help operate Echo (bound by contractual confidentiality).
- Legal requirements: if required to comply with law, regulation, or valid legal process.
- Business changes: if Echo is involved in a merger/acquisition, we may transfer data as part of that transaction.
4) Data retention
- Bubble/proximity data: temporary and designed to expire when you leave the location/event.
- Messages: retained to provide chat history unless you delete them (where supported) or request deletion.
- Account/profile data: retained while your account exists; you can request deletion.
- Diagnostics: retained for a limited time to troubleshoot and improve reliability.
5) Your choices and controls
- Permissions: manage Bluetooth/Nearby Devices and Location permissions in device settings.
- Profile visibility: choose what profile information you provide.
- Delete data: you can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing cyph3rzw@gmail.com.
6) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7) Children’s privacy
Echo is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8) International transfers
If you access Echo from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be transferred and processed internationally. We take steps to protect your information consistent with this policy.
9) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective date” above and, if changes are significant, provide additional notice within the app or on this page.
